What the job involved
- Wide paver walk run from the public sidewalk to the house
- Running-bond field framed both sides by a contrasting soldier course
- Flush, level transition at the public sidewalk
Wider than a standard front walk, and deliberately so — two people should be able to walk up to a front door side by side. The field is laid in a running bond with the contrasting border framing it the whole way, which keeps a long straight run from reading as a corridor.
The walk meets the public sidewalk flush, with the transition set level so there is nothing to catch a toe or a wheel. Everything is pitched to shed water into the lawn on either side rather than letting it run the length of the walk and pool at the low end.
