Paver Driveway with Circular Medallion in Arlington, VA

Tan paver driveway with a circular medallion inlay in front of a stone-faced Arlington home with two garage doors — Paver Driveway with Circular Medallion — Arlington, VA

Service: Driveway Paving
Material: Interlocking pavers
Location: Arlington, VA

What the job involved

Full paver driveway in tumbled tan and grey units
Running-bond field with a soldier course to the full perimeter
Darker circular medallion set on axis with the garage bays

The field is laid in a running bond that keeps the eye moving toward the house, with a soldier course running the full perimeter to lock the edges. The circular medallion is the piece that does the work here — set on axis with the two garage bays, it breaks up what would otherwise read as a large uninterrupted expanse of paving and gives the approach a centre.

Pavers earn their keep on a driveway of this size. Individual units lift out and go back without a patch mark, so a future utility trench or a settled area is a repair rather than a scar. The stone facade on the house set the colour direction: the paving picks up its warm tans without matching it exactly, which would have flattened both.
